Tribes and TDHE’s
1st Tribal has the expertise and experience to work with your Tribally Designated Housing Entity to expand homeownership and housing options on and off your reservation.
With the Section 184 loan, your tribe can build homes in phases of up to 20 at a time. Your TDHE can then choose to rent, lease to own, sell, whatever fits your members needs and abilities. There are no restrictions based upon members incomes so all members may be served. While the tribe qualifies for the Section 184 loan, the tribe can then setup an internal homeownership program for the members. When the members are ready and have the ability, they may apply to assume the Section 184 loan.

Title VI
Title VI is a loan guarantee program provided by HUD. The loan amount is based upon your annual NAHASDA grant and must support your affordable housing goals. Title VI can be used for a variety of housing related activities. Most often it is used for the infrastructure to support your on reservation housing. However, there is a great deal of flexibility with this program. 1st Tribal and our Title VI partners are eager to work with you to secure financing.

Overview
By taking advantage of the numerous sources of grants and financing, tribes can significant leverage up their housing program. Instead of just building or renovating a few homes every year, a TDHE can develop a project to serve the housing needs of dozens or even hundreds of their members. 1st Tribal’s mission is to support and promote increased housing opportunities on Native American reservations and we would be honored to work with you to achieve your housing goals.
